Robert Blair – Candidate for Berkeley County Sheriff

A 35 year resident of Berkeley County, with deep roots in our community, Rob and his wife Mary Beth have been married 30 years and have three adult children: son Robby and wife Esther, son Brady and wife Sarah and daughter Lexy, as well as 2 grandchildren. Rob has been extremely involved in church and many community organizations for more than 30 years. A graduate of Marshall University, Rob has over 35 years of experience and training, with a large portion of his professional career in supervision/administration. He retired in 2013 as Captain from the West Virginia State Police after serving 25 years and also was Troop Commander of the Eastern Panhandle|Potomac Highlands 7 county region. After his retirement, Rob served 10 years as a Special Agent with the West Virginia Insurance Commission.

On January 18th, Rob was unanimously appointed by the Berkeley County Commission to serve the unexpired term of Sheriff ending Dec. 31, 2024. As Sheriff, Rob plans to use these valuable insights, lessons, experiences, community relationships / connections, and wisdom he acquired throughout his career to carry out the important responsibilities of this office. It is his desire to move our county forward through unity, excellence, accountability and by doing the next right thing.

Rob was unanimously endorsed in February 2024 by The West Virginia Sheriff’s Association PAC for the Sheriff of Berkeley County.

Rob’s career choice in life was inspired by his father, who served a 27 year career with the West Virginia State Police and retired at the rank of Captain. Another major influence in Rob’s life was his late father in law, William N. “Shug” Kisner, who served two terms as Berkeley County Sheriff (1981-1988) and Berkeley County Commissioner (1989-1994). Rob has been an elder at Airborne Church for 20 years ago.
