Persons wishing to run in the 2026 Primary and/or General Election for any local, state or national office must file their papers by midnight January 31, 2026.
Candidates for Federal office, Statewide office, State Senate, House of Delegates, and judicial office have to file with the Secretary of State in Charleston (1900 Kanawha Boulevard East, State Capitol Complex, Bldg.1, Suite 157-K; Tel. 304-558-8000).
Candidates for an office which is entirely within one county, including Magistrate have to file with their County Clerk (400 West Stephen Street, Suite 103, Martinsburg, WV 25401; Tel 304-264-1927).
Candidates for a municipal office have to file with the municipal recorder (232 North Queen St, 2nd Floor, Martinsburg, WV 25401; Tel. 304-264-2131).
