Brian Wood – Candidate for WV Secretary of State
I am a life-long Mountaineer and currently serving in my fourth term as Putnam County Clerk. Prior to that I served as Putnam County Magistrate for two terms.
Career
After graduating Cum Laude from Marshall University with a BA in Criminal Justice, at the age of 23, I ran for Putnam County Magistrate, where I served two terms. I am currently serving in my fourth term as Putnam County Clerk. During my time as clerk, I have supervised over twenty-six secure elections, performed over 125 election worker training classes, served as the President of the West Virginia County Clerk’s Association, and have won both state and national awards for my efforts. These decades of learning and serving have prepared me for the Office of Secretary of State, where I will continue providing West Virginia with safe and secure elections.
Priorities
Having twenty-six (26) years of public office administration and nineteen (19) years of election administration, I am the only candidate that has a proven record of secure election administration and superior public service. I would like to continue providing fair elections for the State of West Virginia where everyone can have their voices heard without struggle or intimidation. I am a strong advocate for voter ID and voter-verified paper audit trail, and I believe in the principle of “one person – one vote”. I will strive to make the Secretary of State’s office more accessible through technology while still maintaining exceptional customer service.
