Berkeley County is governed by 5 County Commissioners and supporting departments, boards and commissions. The Commissioners are elected by magisterial district (Adam Stephen, Norborne, Potomac, Shenandoah, Tuscarora and Valley) for a term of six years. In 2024, representatives for the Adam Stephen and Tuscarora districts are up for election. Current Commissioner H.D. Boyd (R) is seeking re-election in the Adam Stephen district after defeating challenger Steven Grant in the Primaries.
